Verdict

Performance Lab Caffeine 2 falls short.

A low-dose caffeine capsule from Performance Lab: 50mg natural caffeine with 100mg L-theanine (a 2:1 ratio), 250mg L-tyrosine and four B-vitamins, with every dose on the label. Australian orders ship from the brand's Australian or UK depot (per performancelab.com's shipping page, checked 2026-10-05); it is imported as a food supplement, not a listed medicine.

What it does

Performance Lab Caffeine 2 is a stimulant capsule sold through performancelab.com. Each vegan pullulan capsule holds 50mg natural caffeine from Coffea robusta seeds, 100mg L-theanine, 250mg L-tyrosine and NutriGenesis vitamins B2, B6, folate and B12; a bottle holds 30 capsules. The label suggests 1-2 capsules on an empty stomach, up to a maximum of 5 capsules (250mg caffeine) a day. We found no entry for it on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) when we searched on 2026-10-05, so it reaches Australian buyers as an imported food supplement rather than a listed medicine.

How it works

Caffeine blocks adenosine receptors, which dulls fatigue signals and raises alertness. L-theanine, an amino acid found in tea, is added at a 2:1 ratio to caffeine; Performance Lab cites human trials of theanine-plus-caffeine combinations for this pairing, but Caffeine 2 itself has not been tested in a published trial. L-tyrosine is a building block of dopamine and noradrenaline, and the vendor includes it to support the neurotransmitters that caffeine draws on. The four B-vitamins (B2, B6, folate, B12) supply 38-83% of the US Daily Value per capsule.

What to expect

Performance Lab says Caffeine 2 starts working in around 15-30 minutes. One capsule gives 50mg caffeine; two capsules (100mg caffeine, 200mg L-theanine, 500mg L-tyrosine) bring all three actives into the ranges used in our dosing audit. Count it toward your daily caffeine intake. Orders to Australia ship from the brand's Australian depot in 3-6 working days or from its UK depot in 7-14 working days, depending on destination (per performancelab.com's shipping page, checked 2026-10-05). We saw only US-dollar prices ($44 one-time) when we checked.
